Why David Raya and Haaland Truly Deserve the EPL & PFA Awards Ahead of Bruno and Rice

As the Premier League season comes to an end, debates around the EPL and PFA Player of the Year awards are heating up. While names like Bruno Fernandes and Declan Rice are constantly being pushed into the conversation, the reality is simple — David Raya and Erling Haaland have had better individual seasons.

If Arsenal F.C. fans and the club were truly wise, they would strongly campaign for David Raya to win the award. Goalkeepers are often overlooked despite being season-defining players, and Raya has been exceptional from start to finish. With 19 clean sheets already this season and the possibility of making it 20 on the final matchday, he has been the backbone of Arsenal’s title-winning campaign.

Consistency, composure, leadership, and match-saving performances — Raya delivered all season long. Awards should not only be about flashy attacking numbers; they should reward players who transformed their teams into champions.

Then there is Haaland. Despite criticism from rivals and pundits, the numbers speak louder than opinions. Haaland has recorded 27 goals and 8 assists in just 35 appearances — the highest goal contribution in the Premier League this season. That level of dominance cannot be ignored.

Yes, Bruno Fernandes has produced 20 assists and 8 goals, which is impressive, but football is ultimately about impact and decisive moments. Haaland has once again been the league’s most dangerous attacking player, delivering goals consistently under pressure.

Bruno and Rice have been excellent, but the award should go to the players who truly defined the Premier League season. David Raya deserves recognition for leading the best defense in the league, while Haaland deserves credit for once again being the league’s most productive attacker.
